William Elross Westbrook was born in Illinois on May 18th 1861. He passed to his reward on May 1st 1930 at the age of 68 years 11 months and 18 days. At the time of his death be was an inmate of the University Hospital in Omaha Neb. He was married to Miss Martha Jane Wells of Lexington in 1892. To this union nine children were born. William Delbert and Mrs Maude Miller preceeded their father in death.
The deceased was a farmer all his life. About nine years ago he retired and moved to town. He was a faithful husband and a loving father, dependable and honest in all his dealings with men. Those who survive and mourn his departure are his faithful wife, Mrs Martha Jane Westbrook, his children; Mrs Ethel Watkin, Mrs Gertrude Wood, Mrs Verna Ward, Mr James Westbrook, Ralph and Otis, all of Lexington; eighteen grandchildren; two brothers Bert Westbrook of Columbus, Neb and Adam Westbrook.
Funeral services were held in the Emerson Funeral Home May 3rd 1930, Rev B Johansen officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood cemetery.

Martha’s sister Clara was first married to James Westbrook, brother of Martha’s husband William Westrbook.
Listed in 1940 as Martha Jane Westbrook (62, MO) widowed and living with her two sons, James Jr (40) and Otis E. (30) after her shortlived marriage to Harve Flavel (1934-1938).
She then married the widowed 4th husband of her sister Clara, Charles R. Hitchcock.
