WELLS
Mr. Alonzo Asbury Wells, 78, 1317 Winfield Dr., died unexpectedly at Forsyth Hospital Tuesday morning after a brief illness. He was born June 27, 1905 in Courtney to William G. and Lular Lash Wells. He spent most of his life in Forsyth County.
Mr. Wells was employed by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1967 as a Chief Repairman. He was an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he taught the Junior and R.A. Boys classes for 30 years and was a Christian magician.
He was married in November, 1927 to Annie Bryson Wells, who survives of the home. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Nina Wells Cooper, 4933 Caysboro Dr.; two sons, Howard A. Wells, Nashville, Tenn. and Dick Wells, 526 Hillwood Ct., Greensboro; one brother, John T. Wells, Courtney; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Vicki Wells Iddings, Richard L. Wells, Jr. and Mrs. Lisa Wells Jeffries, all of Greensboro, Mrs. Brenda Wells Potts and Mrs. Kimberly Wells Nail, both of Nashville, Tenn., Michael Wells, Columbia, Md., Shari Moore Hager, 4844 Shulbrook Dr. and Barbara Ann Moore, 4933 Caysboro Dт.; one great-granddaughter, Melonie Rae Hager and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2. p.m. Thursday at Pleasant View Baptist Church by the Rev. B. A. Carroll. The body will lie in state from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Vogler's Reynolda Road Chapel.
